The story of the estate started in 1950 when Antonin Faravel (father of Thierry and Gilles) planted his first vines at high altitude (400m) on a terroir called "Beauregard". Throughout Gigondas' history, Mr Faravel is the man who planted the most vines in high altitude in the middle of the Dentelles de Montmirail mountains.
Today his two sons are actively running the estate, Gilles in the vineyards and Thierry in the cellar. No herbicides and pesticides are used in the entire vineyards, given the fact that the vines are located on steep hillsides at 400-500m the amount of work is huge ! In the cellar, the style is very traditional : whole-bunch fermentation in concrete tanks, light extraction and long maceration, ageing in old barrels.
A bottle from Domaine La Bouissière is, in essence, the pure expression of the mountain, chalk and the cold.
