Based in Ampuis, in the heart of Côte-Rôtie, Patrick Jasmin and his wife farm 5 ha divided in eleven plots of land in eight lieux-dits on steep granite and schist slopes. Winemaker from father to son for four generations, Patrick is a strong defender of the ancient version of Syrah called Petite Serine and known for its beautiful aromatics, smaller berries and seeds, and lower yields.

Everything is done by hand at the estate, from the harvests (100% destemmed) to the pigeages with the same goal: revealing the fruit and the personality of each plot. Aging takes place in both Burgundian barrels (228L, 300L and 400L) and in 600L demi-muids, 10% of which is new, depending on the year for 24 months before bottling.

Adherence to tradition and respect for terroir are at the heart of Patrick’s philosophy, a stark contrast to the growing trends of long macerations and use of new oak.
