Savagnin would originate from Italy, more specifically from Tyrol. Genetic analyzes have revealed that it is related to several grape varieties including the Petit Manseng and Chenin Blanc. Savagnin is the main white grape of Jura region and is the one used to produce the oxydized Vin Jaune. It gives great wines with potential of long agein, powerful, full-bodied with a high acidity. Its typical aromas are those of green apple, Mirabelle, white flowers; almond, hazelnut and walnuts when oxydized.
